Ruby Blue concept store from Las Vegas ,Mandalay Bay Hotel
Ruby Blue, the latest concept store from the Las Vegas-based Marshall Retail Group (MRG), is located at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas. MRG owns and operates more than 100 branded shops in casino-resorts across the United States and has partnerships with MGM Resorts International, Caesars Entertainment, Sands Corp, Boyd Gaming and others.
The retail environment offers a vintage flair, yet accessories are merchandised in a contemporary fashion.
Architect Michele Dempsey of Scranton, Pa.-based DxDempsey collaborated with the MRG team in the design process. The 1,476-sq.-ft. shop includes 14 recessed display alcoves draped with shimmering metal-laminate curtains that pull back to reveal merchandise.
The electric red wallcoverings by Oakland, Calif.-based Móz Designs create a soft, seamless appearance. The hand-etched metal laminates feature a bamboo pattern that creates depth and dimension. Contemporary crystal chandeliers are accented with red silk fabric trim, and multiple lighting systems spotlight the displays overhead.
Móz laminates were supplied in 4-ft.-by-10-ft. sheets fabricated from recycled aluminum and applied to an MDF core. The aluminum reveals were strategically placed to create the look of curtains. Royal blue diamond-tufted wall panels designed by Tiffany Mosher, MRG director of visual merchandising and store design, offset the red panels and are placed as accents above and within the alcoves. Fabricated from faux suede, each panel was hand-tufted and wrapped around a custom-cut backer.
Burl-wood fixtures were designed to resemble dressing cabinets with red fabric-lined drawers full of accessories. The burl-wood laminate also was used on walls and the cashwrap.
