Public Office opened quietly back in February as an extension of the Production Kitchen design house, which is located upstairs (at 780 Queen West, with entry off Gore Vale Avenue). Part design shop, part retail store, the Public Office is a one shop stop for unique giclee prints on vintage paper, and a variety of custom stationery needs.
The shop offers a space where the general public can access the creative minds and professional tools behind print campaigns for Virgin and Shoppers Drug Mart, just to name a few.
The shop currently features a collaboration with Smash Architectural Salvage -- vintage high quality giclee prints on 70 year old vintage paper salvaged from a textile warehouse ($90 unframed).Customers can come in with their own ideas though; anything in the "public domain" is fair game and the Public Office will help bring it to life. Invitations, business cards, stationery, flyers and silkscreening are just some of the ways anyone can get expert help putting their creative stamp on projects. There are also letterpress classes, which allow one to literally put his/her stamp on things.

Vintage is a the operative word here, where the shelves are lined with vintage designs on new bags ($46), vintage maps are re-purposed as stationery sets ($8), and vintage tags that are sold with rolls of craft paper for whatever imaginative uses you could drum up.

It's a place where people can stop by with ideas, browse for art for the home, or make an appointment with a designer to see how Public Office can make their projects happen. Store hours are Thursday-Saturday 11-7, Sunday 12-6.
