Prego! shoes flagship store in Bucharest by Glmashops

Prego! it’s a local shoe producer, with a small factory in Bucharest creating his own personal line of shoes starting from 2006.
Our task was to create a flagship store for Prego! in the old city center of Bucharest, a place mainly populated by old historical buildings (19-20th buildings).
This part of town it’s a pedestrian area, very popular among visitors due to its old architecture and also to the pubs and bars hosted by this old buildings.

After a quick visit to the factory, we accepted the project because we found it very interesting due to the location (old city center of Bucharest) and because the owner was a very open mind person giving us free hand to develop the concept. The only request of our client was to find a solution for filling the 55sm space with over 300 pairs of shoe (the space was 18m long and 3m wide) .

The layout was based on two starting points: one is the shoe factory and second is the architecture of the old city center.
In the interior we tried to reflect thematic parts from a factory (industrial aspect)
correlated with the actual vintage design trend of the area.

The store is divided in two parts, the front is dedicated to classic and casual collections of shoes and bags, the second part is a shop in shop concept for more exclusive items. For maximizing the display area we made a glass wall, that divides the two areas and all the heating radiators were placed in the middle of the main alley under a custom made wood display mask.

Special item used in our concept:
Fake industrial welded copper frames for covering the walls
Hand made decorative cement tiles for the floor
60x100 cm concrete plate for the wall covering in the back part of the store
Custom made 3/4 gas pipe structure for the shelves
Edison vintage bulbs
Hand made metal shelves
Industrial look glass wall for dividing the two areas
