After the eagerly anticipated arrival in Tokyo in 2009, Opening Ceremony has relocated its flagship to Harajuku, a popular shopping area that's more trendsetting and thus more in sync with the brand's predominantly young customer base. The new store occupies a 1,200 sqm. [12,917 sq.ft.] in a modern building on so-called cat street - a boutique-infested pedestrian zone just south of bustling omotesando dori - offering its full range of men's and women's items on four expansive floors. To keep tokyo's savvy shoppers totally mesmerized, each floor has been conceptualized with a specific theme in mind and features custom-made fixtures, high contrast, graphic elements and a quirky blend of materials that's emblematic of Opening Ceremony's bubbly image and fun atmosphere. themes include pop and minimal art influences, such as playful ben-day-inspired graphics in green, pink, aquamarine, lavender, and black applied to walls, floors and other surfaces.

Additionally, a bunch of painted wooden horses, ostriches and lamas are used as inventive display cases for an entire zoologically themed floor. so, what's on the shelves? The new store debuts special and exclusive products by a wide range of cool contemporary brands, including kenzo, band of outsiders, rodarte, toga odds & ends and mark mcnairy new amsterdam. And to celebrate the new store a special women's collab collection with model Kiko Mizuhara was launched. Founders Humberto Leon and Carol Lim flew in to attend the store opening party and rubbed shoulders with the lucky few, including it-girl kiko and cult actress chloë sevigny who, as you surely know, also happens to collaborate with the brand.
