Martin Margiela "l'espace maison" concept pop-up store in Tokyo

Being one of the planet's most sophisticated retail markets, innovation and excellence in store concepts and services are prerequisites for luxury brands to succeed here. Tokyo's isetan department store has just finalized a massive remodeling scheme of its multi-storey mega branch in Shinjuku.

The project ambitiously aims to boost the shopping experience to new heights by creating a 'fashion museum', a retail environment which blends elements from art and fashion. part of the innovation was the department store's invite to maison Martin Margiela to open a concept pop-up store. Called l'espace maison Martin Margiela, the retail space measures 70 sqm. [754 sq.ft.] and presents monthly series of special and differently themed installations and items, based on the brand' lifestyle and design philosophy.

The first concept that's currently on display has an open plan and is divided into four ections: a living room, a bedroom, a reception and a dressing-room. each space has a different mood and purpose, emanating the maison’s lifestyle concept.

The furniture pieces are a collab with italian design brand Cerruti Baleri, and sold for the first time in japan. L'espace maison Martin Margiela will be operational for one year only, stocking maison martin margiela's haute couture and prêt-a-porter collections, in addition to a sharp selection of unique creations such as leather goods, shoes, accessories, eyewear, fragrances, interior design and furniture pieces. and if that isn't enough, fans are also able to snap up limited edition and collab items.
