The house is pleased to announce the opening of its store in Kyoto, the seventh retail store in Japan. The store will be located in the Shinmonzen area of Kyoto, a city steeped in history, opening its doors on April 27, 2024.

After careful consideration over many years, John Lobb has chosen the “Shinmonzen” area as the location for its first Kyoto store. This area is lined with speciality shops dealing in antiques and handcrafted items. It is known for preserving the rich history, traditions, and ethos that contemporary society has often lost amidst pragmatism. Moreover, the area vividly embodies the spirituality and meticulous way of life that have been passed down through generations in Kyoto. The development of craftsmanship in Kyoto can be attributed to the demand for bespoke items from tea ceremony practitioners to the proprietors of kaiseki restaurants who value the art of tea.
As a unique store that returns to the original characteristics of the brand, the John Lobb Kyoto Store will open its doors this Spring with the role of serving as a concept store. In addition to offering a lineup of classic items to new releases, the store will accommodate bespoke and made-to-order requests.

For the spatial design accompanying this store opening, the house has enlisted the expertise of Teruhiro Yanagihara, founder of TERUHIRO YANAGIHARA STUDIO based in France and Japan. With Mr. Yanagihara’s involvement, a one-of-a-kind John Lobb store will be born in Kyoto, a city steeped in history, with utmost respect for its heritage.
