Harvey Nichols nostalgic classroom memories

This season’s window display at Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge plays with the notion of ‘Fashion School.’

We recall the once exciting prospect of a dashing new satchel, patent black shoes and rainbow leather notebooks to accompany that back-to-school feeling. Paying homage to our nostalgic classroom memories this season, we’ve transformed the floor-to-ceiling window displays to provide you with an education on the must-have pieces for your spring/summer wardrobe.

In a kaleidoscope of paint-sprayed colour, black-inked handwriting and oh-so-sweet drawings, each window reveals a different scene from the once much-used school timetable. Humour and storytelling is a continuous thread running through the scheme: from the subtle hand-drawn elements on the back wall, to the mischievous mini doll replicas interacting in and around the window space, all styled in Harvey Nichols branded monochrome uniforms.
At a quick glance you’ll see the likes of a P.E. changing room, a science lab and an obligatory store cupboard (thrown in for good measure); but on closer inspection, each whimsical scene has been given a luxe, high-octane twist: an Alexander McQueen clutch here, Crème de la Mer bottles there, and seriously stylish school uniforms featuring the hero staples of the season. From Stella McCartney’s crystal-embellished dress and 3.1 Phillip Lim’s pom-pom bomber jacket, to Givenchy’s covetable Bambi-print jumper and Christopher Kane’s neon-striped separates: look and learn, for a lesson in SS14 style.
