New Prisms Revisit Traditional Codes

Ex Nihilo is a new Paris-based perfume house vying for a true personal touch. Conceived by celebrated French designer Christophe Pillet, the young brand’s Rue Saint Honoré flagship resembles an Art Deco-infused fragrance bottle in and of itself.

Capturing the grand tradition of French glassblowing, the new test kitchen-like showroom juxtaposes metal with marble and wood with felt – contrasts that embody Ex Nihilo’s image and ethos. Visitors enter through an immersive, benevolent and expressive façade before reaching opposing metal counters – staging one-of-a-kind perfume vials. Yves Klein-blue walls blend-in behind shelving unit while a mirror-clad ceiling extends the space through to a focal-point staircase.

Working closely with Ex Nihilo’s Sylvie Loday, Olivier Royère and Benoît Verdier, Pillet developed a user-experience that pays close attention to the emotional and sensorial value of scent.

Though Ex Nihilo offers a collection of exclusive, natural and pure perfumes – collaborations with seminal artists – guests can request personalized fragrances. Influenced by emerging talents, architecture and design, the new brand responds to the young generation's search for sensations.
