Brooks Pop-Up Store

Regular visitors to these pages may recall that Brooks was involved in the spring at Fuori Salone, one of the side events to the annual Salone del Mobile design fair in Milan. The Fuori always boasts a wealth of interesting ideas and one of the exhibits from this year seems to have taken on a life of its own..

A couple of Italian design and communications people visiting Fuori saw a display piece by Recession, a group of designers who experiment with cheap, quick DIY architectural concepts. Intrigued by the possibilities that a low cost quick-assembly unit might have if actually housing something interesting, they got in touch with one of Tuscany’s elite fashion stockists Zoe. And Brooks.
Behold the Ultrabox. Designed as a shelter for both notions and objects, it is a ‘pop-up store’, built around a raw plywood frame. Its catalogue of Brooks saddles and sundries would put many of our Dealers of Excellence to shame.

Ultrabox can be visited in the courtyard of the Zoe store in Pietrasanta until the end of August, and on July 30 Tyler Brulé’s Monocle Magazine will be the joint hosts of a party there. Tyler is also, of course, founder of another publication with which Brooks has often cooperated, Wallpaper*.
